积德is for one self, for ppl u love and through real sincerity truely from the heart, if u believe in karma.
To me, one shouldn't be even be thinking about "积德" 'cuz kindness or good deeds is what human should have/do, even being cruel to be kind to ppl is a good deed.
It doesn't matter if 无人见 or 有天知 anymore in this aspect.

There is a yardstick, in all of us, that measures what is wrong, what is right, commonly known as our "conscience". To deny such a yardstick exist, is to deny your humanity...
In other word, doing the right thing should be an natural thing, the "human" thing to do. No reward, no punishment required. No matter if you're misunderstood...
