Fund Raising For The Haemophilia Society of Singapore

lim peh ka li kong

Am helping to raise funds for the following Charitable Organisation in Singapore:

The Haemophilia Society of Singapore

A brief introduction of what Haemophilia is:

Haemophilia is a lifelong bleeding disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. Unlike a normal person, if a Haemophiliac gets a cut, he will not stop bleeding easily. The main problems face by a Haemophiliac is the bleeding and swelling in joints, especially in the ankles, knees and elbows. He will need to inject himself with Clotting Factors (very expensive drug) to ease the pain and stop the bleedings.

The Society has printed Calendar for 2012 (Sceneries around the World) and selling at $10 per calendar to raise funds. Please help if you can by placing order.

All proceeds will go to The Haemophilia Society of Singapore

We will do delivery (only in Singapore) for orders of 10 calendars and above (You can help by asking your relatives, friends and colleagues to purchase or you can buy more and give them as gift). Purchasing of calendar less than 10 will be mailed to you.

Please email to lim peh at old_beng@yahoo.com.sg to order.

The sceneries in the calendar were taken by the members of the Society.

"He will need to inject himself with Clotting Factors (very expensive drug) to ease the pain and stop the bleedings."

This type of fund-raising is not very effective because it is not a real cure (to the OVERALL, GENERAL problem of very expensive drugs which are unaffordable to MANY singaporeans), but merely a relief of the symptom of a FEW people i.e. 治标不治本!

Singaporeans are now buying medicine in JB, where it's much cheaper than in SG. To solve this problem, SG need to spend >10% of the GDP on healthcare - as per what other developed countries do - instead of merely 3%. This means electing a govt that is willing to do that.

The solution lies in politics. The best way to help the poor is to go into politics - be it standing up for election, or doing one's part online. Fund-raising doesn't go far enough.

Before going into the BIG step of Politics to help the poor, let's start by doing the small step, donate to help.

So, how many calendars will you like to purchase to help?

I donated quite a bit already lor: GE2011 campaigning funds of certain political parties lah, souvenirs of certain presidential election candidates lah, a certain online political website (that shut down suddenly recently! @#$%%^&*!), not to mention the donation of my time as counting agent and polling agent blah blah blah.

Now, no money (and no "heart") left to help anymore liao! No heart because generally the poorer a person is, the more supportive of the government (and its 3%-of-GDP healthcare expenditiure) he is. FYI, the health minister of build-nursing-home-in-JB "fame" got very high percentage from mostly-poor sembawang citizens! This type of poor people, worth helping meh? If they don't want to help themselves to make the BIG PERMANENT change, nobody can help them by giving SMALL TEMPORARY financial assistance.

No need to buy calendars. Just send all of them to JB nursing home lah! They won't mind one, as evident in Sembawang. Really. Dio boh?
