Am I A Fireman Yet???

Found a nice story about a dying boy's wish....

Am I A Fireman Yet??

In Phoenix, Arizona, a 26-year-old mother stared down at her 6 year old son, who was dying of terminal leukaemia. Although her heart was filled with sadness, she also had a strong feeling of determination.

Like any parent, she wanted her son to grow up & fulfill all his dreams. Now that was no longer possible. The leukaemia would see to that. But she still wanted her son's dream to come true.

She took her son's hand and asked, "Billy, did you ever think about what you wanted to be once you grew up? Did you ever dream and wish what you would do with your life?" Mommy, "I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up." Mom smiled back and said, "Let's see if we can make your wish come true."

Later that day she went to her local fire department in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met Fireman Bob, who had a heart as big as Phoenix. She explained her son's final wish and asked if it might be possible to give her 6 year old son a ride around the block on a fire engine.

Fireman Bob said, "Look, we can do better than that. If you'll have your son ready at seven o'clock Wednesday morning, we'll make him an honorary fireman for the whole day.

He can come down to the fire station, eat with us, go out on all the fire calls, the whole nine yards! And if you'll give us his sizes, we'll get a real fire uniform for him, with a real fire hat - not a toy one - with the emblem of the Phoenix Fire Department on it, a yellow slicker like we wear and rubber boots. They're all manufactured right here in Phoenix, so we can get them fast."

Three days later Fireman Bob picked up Billy, dressed him in his uniform and escorted him from his hospital bed to the waiting hook and ladder truck. Billy got to sit on the back of the truck and help steer it back to the fire station.

He was in heaven. There were three fire calls in Phoenix that day and Billy got to go out on all three calls. He rode in the different fire engines, the paramedic's van, and even the fire chief's car. He was also videotaped for the local news program.

Having his dream come true, with all the Love and attention that was lavished upon him, so deeply touched Billy, that he lived three months longer than any doctor thought possible.

One night all of his vital signs began to drop dramatically and the head nurse, who believed in the hospice concept - that no one should die alone, began to call the family members to the hospital.

Then she remembered the day Billy had spent as a fireman, so she called the Fire Chief and asked if it would be possible to send a fireman in uniform to the hospital to be with Billy as he made his transition.

The chief replied, "We can do better than that. We'll be there in five minutes. Will you please do me a favor? When you hear the sirens screaming and see the lights flashing, will you announce over the PA system, that there is not a fire? It's the department coming to see one of its finest members one more time. And will you open the window to his room?"

About five minutes later a hook and ladder truck arrived at the hospital and extended its ladder up to Billy's third floor open window-------- 16 fire-fighters climbed up the ladder into Billy's room. With his mother's permission, they hugged him and held him and told him how much they LOVED him.

With his dying breath, Billy looked up at the fire chief and said, "Chief, am I really a fireman now?"

"Billy, you are, and the Head Chief, Jesus, is holding your hand," the chief said.

With those words, Billy smiled and said, "I know, He's been holding my hand all day, and the angels have been singing.."

He closed his eyes one last time.

Men Are Happier Than Women

lim peh ka li kong

Me received the following email from a friend. Think it is quite funny/certain truths/facts of life.

// Quote //

Why Men Are Happier Than Women?

Your last name stays put.
The garage is all yours.
Wedding plans take care of themselves.
Chocolate is just another snack.
You can be President.
You can never be pregnant.
You can wear a white T-shirt to a water park.
You can wear NO shirt to a water park.
Car mechanics tell you the truth.
The world is your urinal.
You never have to drive to another gas station restroom because this one is just too icky.
Same work, more pay.
Wrinkles add character.
Wedding dress- $5000. Tux rental- $100.
People never stare at your chest when you're talking to them.
The occasional well-rendered belch is practically expected.
New shoes don't cut,blister, or mangle your feet.
One mood - all the time.
You know stuff about tanks.
A five-day vacation requires only one suitcase.
You can open all your own jars.
You get extra credit for the slightest act of thoughtfulness.
If someone forgets to invite you, he or she can still be your friend.
Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack.
Three pairs of shoes are more than enough.
You almost never have strap problems in public.
You are unable to see wrinkles in your clothes.
Everything on your face stays its original color.
The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades.
You only have to shave your face and neck.
You can play with toys all your life.
Your belly usually hides your big hips.
One wallet and one pair of shoes one color for all seasons.
You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look.
You can "do" your nails with a pocket knife.
You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache.
You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25minutes.

My Friends

lim peh ka li kong

In life, what does a man want?

You ask a hundred men, you probably will get different answers but generally the "Standard" answers will be :-

Money
Power
Women
Health

For me, a typical Old Beng, I am very much contented with what I have now.

A roof above my head as shelter;
Enough money to feed me and my family;
A car for transporting me from point A to point B;
A good wife;
Some nice friends;

Of all the friends I have, the latest new friends whom I have met are people from the cyber world. Kind of weird to make new friends via cyber world especially at my age but hey, they are nice people to know.

Me have 2 friends whom I have known them when I was in my Primary School at the age of 7 years old.

We have known one another for 34 long years!!! (Ya ya longer than your age now, dinosaur's time) .

From primary school boys to teenagers (we were in the same Secondary School too) to adults and having own's family, we have gone through thick and thin together.

Still remember the good old days, while still single, we played soccers, watched movies, bio girl girl, went lounges, tour together.

Though we were rather poor then, we had many happy memories together.

Now, with one of my friend in China, we only manage to see one another once a year when he comes back for vacation.

Me can proudly say that all 3 of us will always be by one another's side till the day we leave this world. I am very sure that in time when I need their help, a phone-call will be all I need and they will be there for me.

How am I so sure? Reciprocity thinking cos I know I will be there for them if they need my help anytime.

Thank you my friends - R and L.

Back Again

lim peh ka li kong

After a short break, me is finally back from Spain.

The weather is really good there, average range from 7 - 15 deg. (Although sometimes the strong wind did get us shivering despite wearing a few outfits)

Will post some of the photos taken by my cha-bo-lang there as she is a better camera-man than me.

Too busy to post anything long now, will do a proper one later after uploading the photos.

P/S: It's good to be back and my hand has started to get itchy - the urge to blog :)
